I didn't overlook Geddy. Hell, I could just as easily make a list that said Geddy, Alex and Neil. I just wanted to add players who weren't in my favorite band.

Richard Wright's synth work on WYWH gives me goosebumps.

My first inclination was just to submit Rush.

And while I picked DSTOM, it's difficult to pinpoint Wright's best work. WYWH was, by far, the best synth work in the history of synthesizers; tasteful, deliberate, and not obnoxious. His work on Animals was downright spooky and really helped set the tone for the whole album, lyrical musings of a whiney Roger Waters aside.

Agreed. Travesty's playing is completely one dimensional. Any one drum corps member from any given high school could play the same thing.

Precisely. He's got plenty of chops and zero imagination.

Chad Sexton easily could have made my list as well; he's a drum corps guy that, I think, has better physical chops than anyone currently playing. He's good from the theory side of things, although he's no Peart or Carey in that respect, but he's so tight and together and has an amazing sense of time. The dude flat out grooves.

Now ladies and creepers...Gavin Harrison. This is his solo on Letterman when they had the two week drum-off. This performance just brings a huge smile to my face.

Phil is TERRIBLE live if he has to do anything other than scream. His actual singing has been bad enough (seen them three times) that he just has the crowd do the actual singing parts
