LOL at the people that have all of these false opinions about cruises that have never been... I won't try to convince anyone since I don't really care if you go or not. Personally, I love them and am going on my 36th cruise in less than a month.
It seems that they have been getting more strict on finding alcohol. I usually just filled a few deja blue 1 liter bottles with rum and vodka, taped it up, and threw it in the bags I checked. Three cruises in the last two years (2 carnival and 1 Royal) and got "caught" all three. They now scan all checked bags and if there is a container of liquid they pull the bag and put them in a room or just pull the containers in general. I have found that if you bring the "water" in your carry on bag that is about the only way to get it on the ship. I usually bring one rolling suitcase full of monster and water. They will usually let you bring two containers per person per day so that still allows for plenty of booze.
