Originally posted by LS1Goat View PostWe'll find out here in a few days. I usually receive the Lewisville Police blotter by mid week.
On January 20th, at around 2:15 p.m., an officer stopped a motorist regarding a minor traffic violation in the 2400 block of State Highway 121. The motorist was subsequently arrested for no driver’s license. The suspect was handcuffed and placed into the back seat of the patrol car. The officer then dealt with the two other occupants of the suspect’s vehicle and then processed the car for impound. At some point during this process, the suspect was able to get his handcuffed hands in front of him. He climbed from the patrol car and escaped from custody.
Officers flooded the area in an attempt to locate the suspect. Officers sighted him in a field in the area. They attempted to find him in this heavily wooded area, but he had too much of a head start.
A continued investigation revealed that the suspect had lied about his name. Officers learned the suspect’s true identity and determined that he was wanted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Around 7:15 p.m., officers responded to the report of a suspicious person in a local mobile home community. Responding officers found the suspect and noted that he had on handcuffs. This person was identified as the suspect that had earlier escaped from custody. The suspect was ultimately charged with no driver’s license, fail to identify (fugitive from justice), and escape from custody. Additionally, officers placed an immigration detainer on the suspect.
