My cocker spaniel mix is heading to the groomer on Friday but he has this anxiety issue where when I leave, he turns from a docile, lazy and fat baby to a black ball of fury that will chew at the cage he's in and try to eat anyone who comes close. Is there anything I can give him to calm him down?

Couple beers should relax him.
My dog loves going to the groomers so I don't have any idea. Has he had a bad experience at a groomer before?
Take him to the dog park if you have one, you don't have to talk to the people there, lots of people at ours just walk the perimeter of the fence while the dogs play.

The first couple of times he went to the groomer they wouldn't let me have him back until after 6pm no matter what time I showed up. I discovered they were drugging him to work on him and didn't want me to find out so they let him sleep it off before I got there.I wear a Fez. Fez-es are cool

There is some truth in doing it yourself. I think a good set of clippers run 100-200 if I remember right. We had 2 dogs and those clippers paid for themselves in the first couple of times. Of course, we just shave them.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.

Dramamine and benadryl or go to a health store and get sunshine oil. It is a melatonin mix that you can put on a piece of bread and feed it to him. It should help mellow him out a lot. I used to use it with my coonhound whenever I had to take him anywhere. That stuff worked great.01 red GT - 745whp/780wtq Whippled 4V and built 4R75W
