. Two pit bulls have been deemed dangerous after an animal control officer was attacked and injured.

A Longview judge made the ruling Friday in court.

Jacqui Lynch says she was dispatched to this residence on the 2,300 block of 12th Street in Longview last Friday.

When Lynch arrived, she discovered a black pit bull mix that was loose.

When she tried to capture the dog, another pit bull jumped the fence and both dogs attacked her.

"I was afraid that if I went down, I would probably never have gotten back up again," says Lynch.

Lynch ran to a home across the street where she stayed until help arrived.

She suffered bites and lacerations to her hands and was treated by EMS.

"We cannot have dogs that dangerous running the streets of Longview," said Lynch.

The dogs were taken to the Humane Society of Northeast Texas. And on Friday, the judge declared the dogs to be "dangerous."

"Very dangerous situation," says City of Longview Prosecutor Terry Jackson. "We believe two very dangerous animals have been removed from the potential from harming the public again."

Eugene Dixon, the dogs' owner, must now comply with a whole list of rules.

"Those type of animals have to be, if they're kept by a citizen, they have to be maintained in a manner in which other individuals are secure in the community. And that's what this ruling does," says Jackson.

Dixon must also purchase special insurance for having these dogs in his care; something he says isn't possible.

"How am I gonna do all this here? They know I ain't able to do that," said Dixon

If Dixon isn't able to comply with the rules, the dogs will be put up for adoption. And if they aren't adopted, they could be euthanized.

Im not really on either side of the argument but I was watching judge Judy the other day and there was a defendant who adopted a 3 year old pitbull. within two weeks escaped and mauled another dog. Her defense? Oh the dog is harmless and this dog plays with my niece and nephew.. Lmao judge Judy blew up on her to say the least.

I watched that same episode.
