What city was this? I would raise hell from the dispatcher all the way to the top.

Longview. I was told, unless there is an actual fire, they will not even call the fire department, they will only leave a message on the answering machine for the fire marshal, as any crime revolving around a fire is the jurisdiction of the fire marshal, not the police department. I was also told (by the fire marshal) that there is no one in their office after hours/on weekends, they are basically 'on call'.

I'm not even sure to whom I should complain.

I'd start with the desk Sergeant and go up from there.

They were trying to fire on me, so I fired on them...

First, file a freedom of information request and get the recordings.

File an official complaint with the police department.

Contact your local paper and get a journalist to hear your story, play them the recordings.

Go to the city council when they have an open forum and tell them the story.

Point being - you want a change or to hang someones head on a pole - get the word out to your community and make the elected representives in your city aware there is a problem and needs to be fixed.

That's the only way you are going to get it changed and/or feel better about what you went through.

I would go talk to the police chief on Tuesday and file a complaint on the dispatcher... Can't blame the actual officers if they don't ever get the call.

                Thats fucked up.

I had to call 911 this morning for someone setting fires on 183w/Hwy 10, 4 of them in a row all the way down on the side grass, one of them rollin by the time we drove by and the others were just starting to flame up.

My main bitch was that they wouldn't send an officer even though we asked a bunch of times. When I was on the phone the last time, I asked several times, even telling them I was in fear for my family. They refused to send one.

I'll be sticking my nose in it come Tuesday.

You mow after you burn your lawn? I bet you change mowers like you change socks. In all seriousness, I'd shoot one of those idiots.

Do what I do when I need the PD there in a hurry. Say "I have a gun and I am going to stop them". Make damn sure to give the dispatcher a very good description of yourself before you get off the phone.

Considering how seriously the penal code deals with arson I am surprised that they didn't handle this differently.

Especially considering the amount of damage we (Longview) had from wildfires this past fall and the winds we've had this weekend.

I dont know if anyone remembers the year (a few years ago) there was a rash of reports on the news in Dallas of people impersonating police officers driving around trying to pull people over to rob them. Coming home from work late one night I noticed an older beat to shit city Auction Crown Vic rollin down 35 doing about 80 mph with a red radio shack strobe light on the dash cutting in and out of cars...could even read the old faded paint where it used to say Police on one of the doors. Wouldn't have bothered me so much but he was driving like an ass running up behind cars and flashing his lights and had the red strobe going. I called 911 and tried to report it and the dispatcher refused to dispatch anyone and told me if it had a red light on it it was a police car and that I was interfering with law enforcement. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she told me no and that I could be charged with making a false report if I didn't hang up. I was amazed.

On second thought maybe I should keep this story to myself since I have no first hand knowledge of it.
