  • Does anyone have a GoPro Hero2 camera?

I just got a Hero2 the other day and it seems pretty cool. I also got the LCD screen for the back and the helmet mount, but I haven't tried it out yet. Since I'm a rookie on these things, I have 5 questions:

    1. Any suggestions on how to shoot the best quality videos other than using the 1080 setting?

    2. How well does the suction cup mount work when filming something like a car ride (i.e. too much vibration)?

    3. What's the purpose of the WiFi backpack that's coming out next month? I don't really understand what it can be used for.

    4. What software do you use to edit your videos? The video I posted of my Nova in the other forum I converted so that I could use Win Movie Maker. GoPro's website offers CineForm Studio, but I don't know anything about it.

    5. The files are fairly large. What's the best way to compress them so that I can do something like send one in an email?

    TIA.

This guy had 7 Saturday, and in my way home this Camaro had one mounted to the side of his car and he hit over 100 mph on the freeway so I know the suction cup works badass.
    Street car.

      1. 720 at 60FPS, the more FPS the smoother the video will be.

      2. I used the suction cup on the side of a bike fairing and it held up okay, but I still used a string to tie it off to something, in case.

      3. No idea.

      4. Fucking video software! If you're running Windows Vista or 7 you can use the Windows Movie Maker. If you're running XP you cannot use WMM as it will not be the format you need to keep it in it's best format.

The raw video off the memory card looks so sweet, but when uploading it takes away.

Do you have to pay for the CineForm Studio? Also look into uploading with Vimeo, it seems better.

      5. Your best bet it to just edit the videos first, throw em on a CD, or memory stick.

One thing I always did in the past was edit the video, then erase the raw footage. I wish I kept the raw footage on my hard drive.

There was a guy on the BMW forums that posted a video of what I think some different version of the suction cup mount. He mounted it on the roof and it involved the use of some other cross rods to help hold it into place. Lots of camera vids on that site, just kind of hard to find because it's all divied up by model of car. Most of the suction cup mount videos are from the people that have picked up their car via European Delivery and shot video from all over Europe.

Always Always Always keep the raw footage, even if it is a couple of gb in size (Hard drives are fairly cheap, despite the floods). If you ever get more interested in video editing and when your skills develop you can always go back and re-edit.
WMM is okay for simple stuff, but your not gonna get great quality outta it. Invest in Adobe Premiere Elements, its only $100 bucks and if you own a GoPro my guesses are that your gonna use it often so Adobe Premiere is a wise investment. If you out grow the software, there is always Pro.

Vimeo is good because they re-encode uploaded videos @ higher bitrates when compared to most steaming sites.

Nothing sounds more exciting to me than watching a rooftop video of some faggot driving his new BMW all over Europe, but maybe that's just me.

I've driven well over 100 mph many times with the suction cup on my Porsche and my mustang and it's never moved at all.

x2 on the RAW footage. When I got into photo editing I kicked myself in the ass because none of my old shots were RAW.

It takes a lot to be as cool as me! Just saying, a site filled with those videos sounds boring as fuck, but then again, what do I know about what other BMW owners give a fuck about.
