The news could have been a lot worse. I would imagine the most effective way to punish a teenager these days is to revoke their cell phone privileges. Or at least have texting removed from the plan. Good that is was a minor mishap. He could have hurt somebody or himself. Speaking from the position of someone who has nearly been tagged several times by a person texting. It's frustrating to see this on a daily basis from the general public.

This may be a tad off subject but are you aware if you have ATT don't know which providor you have you can get Smart Limits on the line, it enables you to block texting or calls at certain times during the day. I have my daughter set up on this so she cant do shit on hers at certain times of the day and it came in very handy when she was in public school. It is 4.95 a month but it is well worth the cost.

thought this would be a "dad, she's pregnant" thread. This is bad, but in the grand scheme of things could have been alot worse.

Second incident with your kid and driving his truck I believe? First one with giving a ride to someone when he was not allowed to?

Revoke his driving privileges for the rest of the school semester. He will not learn unless you give him a harsh punishment. He needs to understand that he was very LUCKY he didnt cause a serious accident by texting and driving.

Oh and dont blow up when you get your next insurance premium renewal.

It was bound to happen. I got lucky and my parents never even found out about my first "wreck". It was in a parking lot, hit an old lady driving a junker, luckily there was no damage to her car and just a black mark on my bumper so she was cool with just going our separate ways. My dad did notice the black mark on the tan plastic on my bumper, when he asked I said somebody must have hit it in a parking lot lol.

My first wreck was in my 77 malibu, we were doing donuts backwards in it and I smacked a light pole in the parking lot. Got out expecting the car to be totalled, there was only a small ding in the steel bumper! LOL that shit would have totalled a newer car. I told my dad and we laughed about it!

As said previously, YES! I think they actually get dumber between 16-18 too. Hopefully they start to smarten up after that, I'll let you know.

                          Me too!

I have a 16 and an 18 year old. The big one backed into his bosses new Challenger this summer. While this is a tough one, bpawl said it, it could always be worse. Hopefully he learns from it, and makes better decisions next time. I think mine did, we'll see.

That is probably about what I hit, it was a late 70's or 80's four door car with those giant black rubber strips around a steel bumper. I was in a 94 explorer and hit her on the corner of the front bumper. I'm 26 now and that is the only wreck I've been in that was my fault, besides hydroplaning the mach 1 because I was too cheap to put new back tires on it.

Be glad he isn't a girl, my sister is 21 and has managed to back into 3 cars so far. One time she was even driving my moms Yukon with a backup camera and backup sensors lol
