Acura NSX returns

My thoughts exactly, it has a very Audi R8 (especially side profile) look to it, and honestly that's just not the way I would have gone. I prefer Italian supercar styling to German supercar styling, not that the R8 is an ugly car, but compared to a Lamborghini Gallardo/Murcielago or the Ferrari 458 Italia, it just looks bland.

Agreed. Something I think the asian supercars still miss a big point on is the sound the car makes. Admittingly, I haven't heard an the new Lexus in person, but if it's anything like a GTR they are still missing the mark there. The sound a supercar, or any sporting car for that matter, is part of the experience. Even as badass the GTR is it still sounds like just any other Japanese import car.
I'm not sure if they are thinking their cars are more refined because they dont make the supercar sound or not. They just seem to miss the mark for me on that. This is something Lambo and especially Ferrari always tunes for and they just sound amazing.

Btw, I think the 458 is one of the most beautiful cars ever made.

I think it all boils down to culture. The japanese are methodical, practical, and disciplined... while the Italians are passionate and a little crazy. The japanese make amazing daily drivers, the italians make exhilirating supercars. Honda is trying to apply their culture to the creation of a supercar, and no matter how great it will be to drive, it will always miss the mark when compared to it's rivals.

I'm not a huge fan of the Acura "beak" styling, either front or back, and the performance of a V6 with hybrid "technology" to boost acceleration... not what I think will make a succesful supercar (especially taking into the account the weight of the batteries necessary to run the electric motors).

Formula 1 seems to be doing just fine using almost the same hybrid technology.

I'm willing to be wrong, but it just seems like a waste to incorporate a technology that adds so much weight, and that doesn't even begin to bring into account the issues with replacing those expensive batteries and disposing them later.

I agree with your concerns, but battery technology has came a long way.

The new huyundia hybrids have betteries tested to hold true over 200k miles. Depending on the system there may not be much weight involved over a standard AWD system. AWD cars typically have ~300lbs more in drivetrain over the 2wd models.

That being said, that's still a concept, and nothing has been put on paper about the driveline anyways. If I were a betting man, I'd say Honda may just scrap the hybrid frot drive idea, and use it's already great SH-AWD system mated with a hybrid engine/trans line up found in the new "CRX" model cars.

Honda isn't out to please me or you or anyone for that matter. They do whatever they want because they can. Look at Asimo 5000, or the v5 motorcycle engine. That's right, 3 cylinders on bank, 2 on the other.. And it works.
