Is anything made in America any more ?

I went to look at boots yesterday at a local western store. Picked up a pair of Justin's then Ariat's and Tony Lama's, all made China.I ordered a EagleTac flashlight (web site says EagleTacUSA) got it and in bold letters say assembled in China. Then I get home last night and received a little carry bag from the NRA ,opened it up and what do you know made in China. How bad is it when we can't even make our own cowboy boots here much less anything else ..

My H & H boots were made in the USA. You're right that a lot of shit is outsourced these days and its sickening, but unfortunately the most popular stuff is or has foreign parts in it.

You can think the sorry CEOs of American companies for the out of country manufacturing. Why pay an American when you can pay the Chinese government who then will pay the Chinese laborer in rice. Everyone makes out and you increase profit.

Anyways, I do a lot of woodworking and I "try" to buy American as much as I can. For handtools, I buy Lie-Nielsen, which is manufactured in Maine. I also buy Veritas, which is mostly made in Canada.

Powertools are much more problematic. Almost everything is built in China or Taiwan. I was bemoaning the fact that a Taiwanese tool manufacturer bought DELTA last spring. However the owner of that company decided to relocate the manufacturing of most large Delta tools to South Carolina (previously built in Tennessee) They also use mostly US parts (the motor is from Minnesota)

BTW, there was a report a few months back that showed that more manufacturing is coming back to the US. This is partly due to rising transportation costs.

Yes and no, the CEOs now for the past couple of years realize that America isn't spending as much as they did due the the recession. Instead of decreasing their salaries they find more ways to keep the money in their pockets by lowering all other costs. That's one of the biggest reasons why America is in the shape that it is in. Everyone is seeking max profit and not valuing goods for what they're really worth. That's just my opinion.

I buy about 70% of my stuff at these websites. My wife doesn't like most of the styles so she still shops online and retail stores. The quality is much better than the majority of the retail stuff out there today.

Not all Justin and Tony Lama boots are made in China, 95% of their workboots are. Some Justin Original Workboots are still made in America. Tony Lama and Justin hand made boots, (read exotics or most anything with a leather sole) are made in America. As previously mentioned, Lucchese are all American Made. H&H Brown's full line, some also refer to them as Double H, are made in America. I often have a very hard time selling boots to people, especially the older population and war veterans, because we (read: Cavender's Boot City) carry so many boots that are made in China and other foreign countries.

Like I said...if enough people went USA only...that's the route companies would take. It's consumer directed. But no...Americans Are too cheap and think everything should be cheap AND support their cause.
