So neighbors up and down the street pay the CITY of Rockwall for trash pickup and they get a can...even though they are county. I call to get the service and get a run around telling me they don't service my street. I point out to them that my neighbors on either side of me have the service right now, yet they tell me "I am the cutoff" but can't tell me what that means. It seems that these other houses, having existed for 10 years or more, supposedly had building permits and that is how they have a record to bill them. BUT, we're all county and no building permits are required. They claim they do not have a way to bill me for the service. I call up two company's suggested IESI and Allied and they want to charge between $240 -$252 a year for trash pickup. Does this sound reasonable? Apparently, there are 3 different trash companies handling service on a street less than a half mile long.
I build in the city and county, and these issues should come up BEFORE I build a house for someone. Living outside a city can be a pain. The city fire department actually determines your address, but sometimes in the county there's no real order. Who will put your house out if it's on fire? Will the city firetruck stop at your neighbor's house and watch yours burn? Make damn sure where your tax money is going. I pay $34 a quarter for trash pick up.

Quit being a cry baby, Thats cheap. When we lived in Caddo Mills about 20 years ago it cost us around 12 per month with Robert's Trash Service. Now your looking at about 20 per month. I pay more than that now and I live in Allen
I've learned that pleasing everyone is impossible,

but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake

                That's cheap! Mine is $15 a month.

That said the city fire department will respond as his house falls into their 'response' area. Forget the correct term but basically all fire departments are assigned sectors of the county that they are responsible for, even if not in the actual city limits.

It will show up somewhere on your tax bill. Mine was a few dollars a month under "em. serv." It covered ambulance/fire.
