  • Dewalt

Buddy of mine gave me a 18 Volt Cordless Dewalt Reciprocating Saw, Sawzall & Flashlight Combo that he didn't want anymore. He doesn't like Dewalt for some reason. The 2 batteries that came with are dead. Should I just purchase some new batteries or get a Drill to match it? Only thing is that the drills at Home Depot only come with one battery, at least the one I saw.

I am not sure about the ones built lately, but I had that set from '94-'05 and punished the hell out of them, they were great. I ended up buying the radio/battery charger for it. Mine was the 18v with a hammerdrill set.

There is a Dewalt service center off 35E in Farmers Branch ? Carrollton ?
Got 2 for the shop not long ago.
      Watch for sticker shock.

      Might be cheaper on line,

Drill batteries are expensive, especially the 2 amp hour and above.

Never used Dewalt. I've used a modified Makita 6211D with all steel gears and a 1/2" chuck for years with 0 problems. Be careful when drill shopping on new model drills.. A lot of the newer stuff has hardened plastic gears and junk like that. Even Makita switched over to plastic at one point.

I've got lots of dewalt stuff and it is great. I get most of my stuff from toolup.com they usually have the best prices and no tax. Personally I would look into getting a drill and impact driver combo set, comes with two batteries and those little impact drivers are the most useful cordless tool I've ever had. I think a two pack of the regulara XRP batteries is $119.

Take the old batteries to a batteries plus and get them to change the guts out. They usually run about 35.00 each and are better than new.

I have had a Dewalt angle grinder that I have put through hell and back over the years and its great. Its corded though but I got tired of going through cheap ass grinders and got this one.

Dewalt is expensive but good stuff.

I have seen those, are they actual dewalt batteries or a chinese knock-off? The knockoff items in general seem to be hit or miss, that's why I have been leery of getting them off of ebay.

Be sure to cross shop on Amazon. A two pack of 18v XRP batteries is $102

I always cross shop on Amazon. They are always having deals on Dewalt tools. Right now you can get a the 20v Max LiIon hammer drill and Impact drill combo for $269. It is $299 on the site suggested by GrayStang
