And probably get out run by a Neon srt 4, which is another shitbox economy car.

I'm not saying they didn't make a few cool ones but, that was not the main purpose of the production line.

If the neon can run 9s then I guess you would be right

I'm talking production vehicles. A Gremlin can run 8's with enough power. That sure as hell doesn't make them awesome.

A production hemi dart with a few mins of tweaks would run 10s all night

No production neon would come close with similar tweaks

That's how they should be remembered? For the few fast Darts that were made and not the thousands of slant 6's?

And it still wouldn't be able to turn. At all, much less as well as the new "Dart" probably will.

I'm glad they didn't call it a neon, that'd be blasphemous!

Hemi Darts weren't production cars. Chrysler contracted Hurst to build them, along with Barracudas. These were real race cars, delivered in primer and unpainted gelcoat on the fiberglass front ends to real racers. You couldn't just walk into a dealership and order a L023 super stock Hemi Dart. They ran low 10s with the tires of the day and can run 9s in stock trim with modern tires. They still dominate the super stock class, running mid-low 8s with stock cubic inches, stock intakes, and stock carbs.

That said, 99.9999999% of all Darts ever made were boring, lowly transportation and the new car fits the bill nicely. The factory 383 and 440 cars of '67-69 were just ridiculous, they had to make steering, exhaust, and brake parts just to fit the big block in them and you couldn't get power steering or brakes. Yikes. The slant-six and 318 cars were mundane but the 340 cars were pretty great.

I had a 71 Demon one time. Hate that I sold it even though it was a slant 6. Same front end as the Swinger but the fast back body of a Duster.

If they build it, it will never be the dart as I know

I ran across this guy in East FTW at the old Jamie's gas station on E. Lancaster. I think he said it was a 71 Dart.

Exactly, the original Dart was looked upon just like we are saying with this new dart - wtf is this econo box...
