They purposed destroyed the Charger. I forget the head of Dodge at the time, but he's quoted as saying (loosely) the days of the 2 door sports car are over. Then they realized the error of their ways when the S197 Mustang was kickin' azz. That's why the resurgence of the Camaro and Challenger took place.

Stick a 340 and 4-speed in an old Dart and step back. Those things, and the Plymouth Dusters, were some bad ass fast cars.
The guy who owns the car I posted said that he used to have a Chevelle, and he got smoked by a Dart. He sold the Chevelle and bought a Dart, and it's the one he restored.
