Yah i noticed it as well, its a fairly interesting read though. Lots of good points, I get into arguments on the local gun forum about SHTF stuff and they about what happens when you run out and push comes to shove. First thing Ive been stock up on is things that go boom.

I read on a forum about what would be weapon of choice in SHTF situation and many people had my same idea in mind, pump shotgun. I feel that a long range rifle would be good as well but if it comes down to it, I'm gonna hide and wait for something to get close to me.

I just have various things. MY thoughts were guns that ammo would be easy to find if I run out and interchangeable parts. Ar variants, consist between .22,9mm and 5.56. Then pistols.

You can't rely 100% on one type of weapon. It is important to diversify. .22 ammo is VERY light so you can have a .22 caliber pistol and 300 rounds in your pockets and it won't weigh you down if you have to hump it for any distance. For those that think a .22 doesn't have enough stopping power, go ask ANY emergency room nurse or doctor on what victim they would rather work on. One that has been shot with a 9 mm or one that has been shot with a .22 and they will all say the same. The .22 is going to have a more broad area of damage than a 9mm.


Personally I have a .270 rifle, .22 pistol, and a 20 gauge shotgun with a wide variety of rounds for each.

Id use it for hunting as well as defense in some cases, my thoughts are if things become scarce it will be easier to find 9mm and .22 over say my 5.56 rifle. I do have a lot of 5.56 though haha

Sorry but pigs are a LOT different than what we are. My older brother shot a 400 pound hog with his 30-06 and it ran about 20 yards before collapsing. When he was field dressing it he found the bullet made jelly out of both lungs AND the heart. I'm sorry but if this were to happen to a person they would instantly fall.

As far as deer, yeah, they are more like people. I know lots of people that shoot deer with 22 rifles. Is it the best thing to do, I wouldn't recommend it. Most people though when they get shot they don't keep after you, and if their adreneline is kicking or if they are on something then no matter what kind of round you use, you need a well placed shot.

But of course, this is why I have my .270!! lol

Pretty sure we're talking two legged varmints here. Shot placement is a bad bitch.

I just don't want to rely on one weapon. PLus i like having guns around as it is so the more the merrier

I have more and enjoy them alot but the shit that's ready to load in a rush is the 4 above . I've got my stuff at home , a storage building and the retreat is my dads who could start a very successful war against the Russians .

id probably head to my warehouse, all cinderblock lots of space and limited ways in and out. I keep them all ready to roll though. keep more than a few mags loaded... LOL
