FORT WORTH — A police officer accused of sexually assaulting a woman has tendered his resignation.
Daniel Lopez, a patrol officer with the department since Dec. 17, 2004, resigned after police officials learned of alleged misconduct, a police department news release said.
Lopez was placed on restrictive duty after police officials learned of the misconduct on Nov. 29, and criminal and internal investigations were initiated, the news release said. At that time, Lopez was relieved of his gun and badge, the news release said. Lopez turned in his resignation on Tuesday.
Police said that because of the ongoing investigations, they will not be providing interviews regarding the release.
News media have been asked by police to not show pictures of Lopez to prevent compromising the ongoing investigation, the release said.
Criminal investigators are looking into the possibility that there is more than one victim, a separate news release said.
