I took Wicked's comment as implying that the legalization of weed would stop people from experimenting with other drugs, including pseudo weed.

Without having empirical evidence to support either side of the argument, I'll give my thoughts:

Ask yourself what would change if pot were legalized. Availability? No, anyone/anytime can get as much weed as they want. Quality? No, the highest rated THC levels ever seen in marijuana are what we are seeing today, almost to hallucinogenic levels in some cases.

So what's going to change peoples mind, after legalizing pot, that would make them not want to experiment with other drugs, especially cheaper ones that even promise a better high?

The only "facts" that I have seen stemming from the legalization of a specific drug is the drop in crime rate after some countries changed laws on heroin. Nothing to support the notion that legalizing "anything" will lessen drug use and/or experimentation.

"The apocalypse never happened" as some predicted when the country of Portugal decriminalized ALL illegal drugs eight years ago. The country did NOT become a...

Cliffs: Portugal legalizes all drugs, drug use and crime overall plummets.

I'm sure you're correct about people who are just experimenting with it to try something new, I don't think that would change. However I would think most people, like myself, are using these as a legal alternative to pot. It feels very similar in most ways even down to getting "cottonmouth" after you smoke. I would smoke the crap out of some weed if it was legal but since it's not I have tried these newer oprions they are pretty close to weed, however I am wary of the side effects of some chemical crated in a lab.

Isn't it crazy that a natural plant grown out of the ground is illegal and a synthetic compund created in a lab and sprayed on potpourri is legal and available?

Not sure I would characterize a 10% decrease in drug use as "plummeting". While it is a fairly significant "percentage", I would question whether or not you would see the same results in the US. Demographics being hugely different between the two countries (US vs Portugal); I'm sure that would come into play as well.

Also, this [data, in the vid] comes from a liberal news reporting agency, where are the #'s coming from? Could it have been biased?

I will say that if pot were legalized I would smoke and or bake with it. The only reason I do not now is because it is illegal. Can I get it now? Yes. Would it be more easily available to me if it were legal? Exponentially.

The BBC is a liberal reporting agency? It is widely regarded as the most unbiased and noble reporting agency in the world.

But to a staunch Texas republican, if its not Fox News, it must be liberal!

If you're dumb enough to take it, then we, as a society, don't need you. Thank you for helping us thin the herd.

So, because they are not as liberal as NBC, they are now "the most noble reporting agency in the world"?
Not quite laughable, but pushing it.

In all honesty, I really don't have a bone to pic with them, and enjoy there programing quite often, but there's probably just as many opinions of liberal bias as there are for them being unbiased.

And not sure what you were implying in your "Texas republican" comment, but I'll give Fox their due on both sides of the coin!

Please find some evidence that the BBC has any kind of slant on a daily basis. Fox news is the joke of the news world. He was simply stating that to most conservatives, anything not reported on Fox news is "liberal trash."
