Has anybody read the book yet? I just finished it today.

So, anyway...

I'll pick it up this evening. I hope it has some good combat material.

I started reading it last night and I'm about 20 pages into it, understand that I do not read... hardly anything, and I like the book so far. Anything that's military related fascinates me, especially if it's told from a personal perspective. From the little bit I've read I can confidently recommend the book.

What I find so astoundingly funny are the "truth seekers" who relish in this horse shit and actually think they are one up on everyone else...

My personal opinion is they suffer from some inferiority complex and relish the feeling they've discovered something that other people haven't. Then, when they are thoroughly castigated they dismiss it as "mainstream establishment lies" and everything becomes a conspiracy theory. That's the only way to rationalize why 98% of the population thinks they are idiots. It is funny though if you think of all the idiots you know, the majority think they are super intelligent. I guess that's just the only way to deal with it emotionally.

so what was your opinion of the book?

I really liked it. He really only touches upon his upbringing then him going into the Navy. He doesn't talk too much about BUD/S because there are plenty of other books/documentaries on it if you want more info. The rest of the book is about his numerous deployments. I have never really seen combat -- I am prior Air Force and was deployed to Oman after 9/11 and Kuwait when we invaded Iraq -- so I enjoyed reading his first hand accounts. Other than his bar story questioned earlier in this thread, he sounds like a pretty humble guy. I got a kick out of his beach ball story (middle of the book).

I have been to quite a few places he mentions in the book (I worked a contract with the Department of the State and traveled to a lot of their compounds all over Iraq) so it was easy for me to picture/recall what he was talking about. I wish he would have spent just a little bit more time talking about his gear, what worked and what didn't.

Like I said, I really enjoyed the book. I read it in two days, which is pretty quick for me.

I usually just skim over dumb shit like this and never let it process into a thought before it is discarded as more jibber jabber, but...

You want to know about a doc. type it into a search engine and do some research. If looking for info. on other topics, cross reference articles and facts provided. That's the problem, most don't want to put in the time and effort to do any real research. You can pull most if not all the docs up on govt. web-sites. Also a lot of the stuff is covered on C-SPAN.

But wait!

Jesse has been on the inside! It would appear he is the only one qualified to talk about such things. Not some govt. website! Right?
And why would "top secret" documents be published on any government website?
