Hell when I took it, my recruiter told me the average score was a 45. If you saw the guys coming into the Dallas North recruiting station, you'd understand why.

Dude. Minimum to get in the Army was a 31 or 32. In extreme circumstances, they would accept down to a 25, but the only job I ever saw available to a 25-32 was a 92S - "Shower/Laundry and Clothing Repair Specialist".

The ASVAB takes hours. We had a condensed version on our laptops called the EST, or ENLISTMENT SCREENING TEST, that was limited to like +/- 15 minutes. It was surprisingly accurate. People would get within 10 points of their EST score on the ASVAB.

In my area, which was Lubbock and west all the way to the New Mexico boarder (Muleshoe, TX.) It was fairly common for kids to fail the EST. I'd set up a few interviews 70 miles away drive all the way out there, and none of the kids would pass. We generally had majority of folks score less than a 50.

Awesome man! Glad you guys got everything worked out, and good on your boy for taking the plunge! He'll spend a few memorable months in Sam Diego/Pendleton lol. I'm sure you're proud. Semper Fi

I repeat my prior statement. That's a goddamn shame.
