Depends on the kid. My daughter is 12 and I wouldn't worry about leaving her alone at home. My neighbor's boy is 18 and I wouldn't leave that kid alone as long as it took me to blink my eyes.

I think my parents starting letting me stay home alone around 5th or 6th grade. I think that's about average for most.

8 miles from school. But I was able to ride it everywhere else. I had a well worn path in every ditch in a 5 mile radius.

When I moved closer to school I rode my regular bike.

Were you allowed to use it w/out supervision?

I'd say 18 because any younger and you be called a pedeo.

Ohh you mean your own kids........ I have no usefull data for this.

All depends on maturity. Mine just started staying home alone this school year. Ages 9,9,10 and 12.

I was a "latchkey" kid with working parents and it was in 5th grade when i was allowed to ride my bike back and forth to school (about 4-5 miles, some of it being on a very busy road) and then I had to stay put at home until the parents arrived back home from work.
