  • Anyone have the hook up on Satellite or Cable TV?

I just canceled with Direct TV because my 2 yr contract was up and they would not give me the promo deal because I was an existing customer. Stupid. Now I'm not a customer at all to them. Smart business plan.

Anyhow, anyone have the hook up?

No hook up, but I recommend DISH. For me, they have been excellent in both uptime, quality, and reasonable customer service. Good prices with a variety of packages and a la carte channels.

You must work for Dish, LOL. I did a search and you know a lot about them. I was considering Dish, but the one thing that has kept me from closing the deal is that their "top 200" channel deal doesn't come with Fuel TV or the Science Channel. Direct TV's Choice Extra did, and the promo price is cheaper with Direct TV (that they would not give me )

Yea, it looks like Fuel is on the 250 tier. You can get it for $49.99 for first 12 months. Pretty good deal for a lot of channels. I'm on the 200 tier. More channels that I really need. As long as I have Discovery, Speed, Indie, Animal Planet, NFL, Fox, and National Geographic HD, I'm good.

I can no longer justify paying for TV service. I watch whatever I want, whenever I want, online for free.

How much did directtv charge you to send the equipment back. Dish will not allow me to receive the new promotion since I am a current customer and I have to pay to upgrade to the "free for life" HD now that I have HD tvs.

They told me it would cost $100 to ship the equipment back and the early termination fee of $62 if I canceled now. I will continue with Dish until may but then I am switching to get the new member promos from someone else.

Does Dish consider you a current customer by name or by address? I may just signup under the wife's name and continue with dish.

Direct TV didn't charge anything to send the equipment back. Fuck that. They would not give me anything close to the "new customer promotion" deal. Makes no sense to let customers leave to another provider to get the same promo deal you're offering your new customers.

I had finished my 2 years with Direct and called to cancel - they sent me to a "specialist" who then gave me 6 months of Encore and stz and cut my $102 a month bill down to around $67 for the next 6 months with not contract extention ..... Called sirius too on my contract about to auto renew and told them to cancel - was going to be 180 is for a year got 5 months for $24 ...

You must not have talked to the right person, because the cancel department is empowered to give price concessions .....

Whatever you do, do not get Dishnet work. 80% of their customer service is out sourced to India or the Philippines.

Just ordered UVerse. I talked them into $200 in gift cards. It works out to $64/month for internet and cable if you factor in the gift cards.
