Known anyone to have a pet possum?

I've known people to have coons, but not possums. There has been this possum around my Mom's house so long, he might be the same one I have encountered several times for the past 20 years. Not sure how long they live. He eats and sleeps with the cats on her enclosed back porch. I grabbed him by the tail once when he was sleeping on a shelf next to one of the cats. LOL! The other night I opened the door to see him sitting there eating. He wasn't too bothered by me. He just kept eating and watching me no more than 4 foot in front of me. One of the cats walked past me and hardly gave him a glance. He's as big or bigger than one of the cats. He slowly moved away and we just watched each other.

Overgrown rats.

My grandfather used kill them by repeatedly running them over with his three wheeler when I was a kid. I asked him why he didn't just shoot them, he said "I didn't want to be cruel". Lol!
