growing up my mom had a 86 turbo volvo wagen, always had a clunk noise on bumps like a shock or something was loose. Ended up being a ratchet with a socket on it. Was in the rear most part of the frame and had to of ended up during production. If memory serves me right they couldnt get it out for some reason and they ended up drilling a few holes and welding it so it would stop moving around lol

The problem is that they no longer have any real mechanics working in dealerships....we all left years ago when Ford decided to get greedy and gouge the shit out of everyone on warranty claims...went from being able to make a decent living to shit in a hurry. Now all they can get are parts-hangers and oil-rack monkeys for what they want to pay.

Truth, IMO it started with the extended warranties in general. The dealerships are like any other business. If they cant make money doing it, its not worth it to them. They make money up-selling shit, like tires, batteries, brake jobs, etc., and they don't need experianced mechanics for this. They just hire oil change monkeys and fresh out of "mechanics school" newbs and pay them a dollar over minimum wage.

The bumper corners on his 2011 GT pull away from the quarter panel when the polymer is heated. The car was there overnight and most of the next day. Service claimed they could not replicate the issue so nothing was done. When it was driven out for pickup sure enough the bumper had been heated by the sun and the corners were pulling. My dad pointed it out and the guys response was "most people would not notice that". They offered to have a body guy look at it, but he could not go without the car any longer.

Maybe I should just print this out and leave it for them next time its in.

Not trying to be a prick Skip, but you know as well I as I do that the service and used car part of the dealerships are seperate run business'. Only a GM can influence their decisions and then its only a favor per favor type of requests. In the end the its about making money and the business' of a dealership will not nor can afford to lose money.

No dealership wants to fix anything that has a TSB out on it, they pay no money. I experianced this with the TSB on my 09 GT with the FLI going out. Mine only did it when it was over 3/4 or full of a tank of fuel and then it was only intermitten, so unless I had to take it in during this time they would have to "replicate" the problem, even though they had a TSB out on it. I finally did fill it and take it in while it was going on and then I was told to bring it back when the tank was almost empty, even though the 05 and up Stangs have a FP access cover.

My Sigs are turned off because of SMF's, but IIRC Chaz Gilmore is the GM of GF/GL and like I stated they are the only ones that can help and most of the time the GM's are not reachable. Not that it matters, ALL dealerships will operate the same. I've had bad and good experiances with most Dealerships in the area, thats how I know that they all operate the same.

There is a difference in being the GSM and the GM of a dealership. The GSM is the head salesman but does not control the dealership as does the GM of the dealership.

With that being said, Skip has taken care of me the one time we did business when he was at NRHF and if Purdy knew how to use a celphone, land line phone, text, fax, PM, email, bat light or homing pigeon, I would have bought four more cars from Skip at Grapevine.
