I'm definitely not an animal person by any means, but I don't think I could leave an animal in a cage 99% of it's life. Not to mention pay to feed it all that time.

      • That’s funny CJ. The dogs I use for lion hunting are trained hounds they aren’t just somebody else dogs. I’ve got a picture of a lion we treed and it’s got a dogs head in its mouth and four other dogs are all over the cat. My dogs are actually loved and cared for believe it or not and when they aren’t kenneled they’re doing ranch runs or on a treadmill or hunting/working. They’re all in shape don’t just sit in a kennel. If the dog is producing pork then the dog is worth feeding in my book. Look at it the other way, that dogs feeding you. If it ain’t then no place for it in my yard. If I figure how to post that picture I will put it up.

If you have room, I want to ride out with you on a hunt. Don't care if it's hog or cat. Probably about an hour away from you...

              • Do the lion hunts in New Mexico around Socorro but I’ve only been a couple times. I don’t have the dogs for it but friends of mine do. Got one mounted in my living room though I killed while walking to my stand one evening at a deer lease in lampasas. Mike we can work something out I haven’t hunted any in a couple weeks been baiting a new spot and waiting to trap a bunch of them to get some dogs started and figure out the culls. Should be ready to get back in the woods by the end of this month. Just don’t like letting people hunt and scare them away from the traps in the meantime they feel safe. Plenty of pork on the ground.

                • Took my nine year old out to the woods for a couple hours tonight. We camped out on a heavily traveled trail just hoping we could get a hit. Little guy was having a ball...

                  Unfortunately, nothing...

Hunters are damaging the property more than the hogs? How so? Are they bringing in a bunch of off road vehicles or something? All the places I hog hunt I walk in and walk out, and the property is the same when I leave as when I got there. Sounds more like either a)you've heard some horror stories, that may be true or false, about some hunters that were complete pieces of shit, or b)you're just guessing that your property will be damaged in some way.

I don't find that surprising honestly. Not having the right equipment can really cause problems, and especially not the right hunters. You need thermal, night vision, the proper vehicle, a winch to get animals out of the thicket, etc. I don't blame you.

                        • For every ethical hunter who actually gives a shit is 50 that dont.

It's like letting your friends borrow something. Always a risk.

Or a trap and a rifle. Just saying you don't need all that bullshit to clear out hogs.

Though the toys would definitely be nice...

You do need that 'bullshit.' Some hogs you just can't trap. Trust me on that.

I'm sure you're right, and I would love to have some gen 4 night vision and the like. But, since I don't, I'll just take the easy ones. Still good eatin'...
