The Hog problem is ultimately most of the land owners fault - there are so many responsible people that want to help eradicate the population, but with no access it's never gonna go anywhere.
The problem is figuring out who the responsible ones are that won't shoot up a bunch of other stuff, leave trash everywhere, tear up the land and not invite 50 of there closest buddies out to do the same. Idiot you don't know with a gun = liability.

That thread was started in '09, has a lot of good info and observations on the oinkers. .458 SOCOM FTW.

I just finished building 2 AR-15 for my brother and I to use hog hunting out at our lease in west tx. We are going to mount lights on one of our feeders and go out there this summer. He killed a pretty big one last weekend and ended up giving it to a needy faimily.
I prefer to eat the "smaller" sows to the larger stinky boars. I found that one out the hard way.

Find some game trails where you can see signs of pigs.. IE tracks, poop, wallows, tree rubbings and juat camp that at night.
Have a good gun light if you are hunting at night.
If you shoot one..shoot it again and make sure its dead because they most times lay there a minuite then run off.
Dont run in after a wounded hog in the bush..It will eat you. Give it time and let it die then track the blood. If there isnt much blood to track, dont waste your time tracking pin drops of blood because the pig is alive and well and likely miles from you laughing at your shitty shot with its friends.
Bait it with corn feed mixed with Hogwild or Hog grub mix or donuts.
It's hard to get them at night unless you have dogs because they are out and about foraging..
At day its even harder because in the brush they can hear and smell you hundreds of yards away. If you hunt at day travel down wind from them so at least they cant smell you and try and sneak up on their bedding spots.
my last two kills.. One was 200lbs the other 190lbs.

Just got back from tracking them pretty much all day. Found the mother lode and are heading back out tonight. If any of you guys are out by Wylie...
