I am ready to go hunting. I have never hunted anything but am familiar with firearms. Does anyone here have any recommendations of places to go or know of a family or friend who would like a few less pests on their land. Looking to stay within 2 hrs of ft worth if possible.

Alot of the old school farmers and ranchers in east tx will let you hunt their land if pigs are all you are killing.Comment

They move very close to dusk. Your sweet spot this time of year is about 5pm when they start moving to about 3-4am when they bed down. Usually the biggest Boars are running arround solo and the sows run around in packs from 4 to 40.
Find some game trails where you can see signs of pigs.. IE tracks, poop, wallows, tree rubbings and juat camp that at night.
Have a good gun light if you are hunting at night.
If you shoot one..shoot it again and make sure its dead because they most times lay there a minuite then run off.
Dont run in after a wounded hog in the bush..It will eat you. Give it time and let it die then track the blood. If there isnt much blood to track, dont waste your time tracking pin drops of blood because the pig is alive and well and likely miles from you laughing at your shitty shot with its friends.
Bait it with corn feed mixed with Hogwild or Hog grub mix or donuts.
It's hard to get them at night unless you have dogs because they are out and about foraging..
At day its even harder because in the brush they can hear and smell you hundreds of yards away. If you hunt at day travel down wind from them so at least they cant smell you and try and sneak up on their bedding spots.
my last two kills.. One was 200lbs the other 190lbs.
