4 mile stretch just now right north of San Marcos on 35 there were 12 state troopers, 8 had cars pulled over and 5 were doing field sobriety tests. Most I've ever seen at once

I don't drink and drive, so I have no problem, but this is bull shit. How can they draw blood from safely from an unwilling person without knocking them out cold? When I was in the hospital, I was shaking so badly from a fever that it took three nurses to hold me down just to inject me with some meds and I already had an IV in me. I was 125lbs, weak as hell and trying to hold still. I am 185lbs now, strong, they would have no IV, and I would be struggling.

Add that to the fact that I have had seasoned nurses try three or four times to get blood out of me while I am perfectly still and they can't. You might stab me 5 times and you might take me to jail, but I guarantee that you wont get blood out of me in the field if I don't want you to have it.

They get paid to sit in court , they don't have to hire a lawyer and they realize 90% will roll over and use a public defender take whatever the judge throws at them . If they are wrong no one gives a fuck ! You however will have to spend 5-10 thousand dollars to prove your innocence . Oh yeah if you are found not guilty they are not gonna be on the hook for your legal fees or court cost . You just get to piss the money away to prove you weren't doing anything wrong . I hope you never run in to reality cause it's gonna fuck you up real bad with you thinking the system works .
Please do explain. Pubilc defenders are for the indigent.

I've met way more cool cops than dicks, but I assure you I have had plenty of interaction with BOTH. The problem with this is that when you've already opened up the door to violating someones rights, and then you get a guy that is still pissed he didn't make Varsity senior year doing the enforcing. Slippery Slope doesn't even begin to quantify it.
              I'm not understanding you.

If the OFC sees someone driving impaired, makes the stop, does a sobriety evaluation which yields indication of intoxication, requests a sample of breath, is refused, then getting a warrant for blood is trampling someone's rights?

What about the agreement you made to give a sample when you requested a license to drive?

Oh, I agreed to that? I guess there is no need for a warrant at all then. I wonder why they bother having a stack of them ready to go?

I am very much opposed to drinking and driving, having watched friends die on multiple occasions because of it - but johnny law abider should not have to subject himself to sobriety checkpoints or any other illegal search to allegedly make the rest of us safer.

There are tons of people that get away with drinking and driving every day, checkpoints or not, refusal policies or not. I know because I got away with it at least a few thousand times. The current methods are ineffective.

The stack is just a formality, it is all still based on one person's opinion.

This is incorrect. Refusal of a breathalyzer will result in a warrant for your blood.

Sobriety tests are BULLSHIT. The pig decides if you passed or failed. There is no standard.
I have had 5 knee surgeries, 2 ankle surgeries- I cant walk a straight line to save my life. I have almost been hauled to jail before because I was "walking like I had been drinking". Farking Iceholes!
