  • Venting!!!! My Morning

Ok so this morning I get up at 4:30am to be on the road from Allen by 5am so I could pick up the Mustang from my Apt at Garden Park and bring it to work so it could get a few miles on it.

Well I pick up the Stang and it was doing its normal not wanting to idle but ran fine in revs. I head out of the gate and all seems good. Im running down 69 toward the hospital when at the Pink and Green Apts all my gauges start going crazy. The tach shoots to six even though the motor was no where near it, the Oil Presure gauge drops to the bottom, and i start losing power and the car starts bucking.

Then the lights go dim and the car starts coming off the rev and slowing down. With the lights dim I hear a pop coming from what sounds like the headlight switch so I push it in turning off the headlights. When I push the switch I get all the power back and its running fine again.

I cant run with the lights off so I flip the lights back on and like fliping a switch the car dies and the battery is to dead to crank it back up. At this point Im 2-3 miles from my apt and there is a mountain of a bridge in between me and my place..

Well Im not going to leave my car on the side of the road and I have time so I start pushing and end up pushing the Stang ALL THE WAY BACK HOME and so you know, pushing a 2500-2800 pound car 2-3 miles BLOWS!!!!!!!

I get it back to my place, lock it up, and hope in the trusty TC. Now this is where I truly think Im having a heart attack and the only reason Im still alive is because the freezing cold weather hasnt killed me yet.

I get calmed down (although Im now looking for a gym membership) and I head to Mc d's for my normal fatting breakfast (I dont learn well :-(), I order my food and when I get to the window to pay I realize I dont have my wallet. I happen to have some money in the center consol (witch never happens) and I pay for my food.

I call my boss to let him know Im going to run a little late and I head bakc to my place to find my wallet in the Stang. Get back to the Stang to find that its not in there. So I hop back in the TC and head to the site the Stang broke down on me and I had to start pushing earlier.

Now Im at the site and looking for a little bit (15-20 minutes) when I start to find it. a ran over credit card here, a shreaded DL there, and whats left of my leather wallet all over the 2 lanes of 69. :-( I pick it all up and walk back to the TC but when I open the door the Turbo Coupe emblem falls off the car.

Well now Im at work and really really REALLY upset. I mean I truly feel like I should have just stayed in bed today... Just sayin

So whats wrong with my car? At this point I almost just want to sell the Coupe and give up cars all together, I could easly go back to bikes where I belong. :-(
That MF'er is prolly so fast it would be like riding a big giant can of rape named bubba just outta prison set free in a girls college dorm.

My mustang did that a few times when the alternator died, pull it off and have it checked.

That sucks man. The emblem falling off would have sent me over the edge, lol. Hope you get your car running.

Alternator is the most likely culprit. I've had the exact same thing happen on my '95. Hope your luck improves, sounds like you need it.

Thanks guys, but with the headlight switch popping and it clearing when I turned the headlights off, would it not point toward a grounded hot wire on the headlight harniss or swithc its self? Just asking,
