  • How many miles on your 5.4?

Are the 01-04 Ford F150's with 5.4 Triton V8 good trucks? I was wondering how many miles are on your trucks and what kind of problems have you encountered? I'm getting a good deal on an 02 with 130k miles but I dont want to inherit a problem.....T.I.A

5.4 2 VALVE, only problems are plugs blowing out of the heads, but if you can find one with a 4.6, i'd go that route....my 4.6 odometer stopped at 178k 5 YEARS ago and still goin like a boss!

I put about that many miles on my Nav 5.4, it was the first gen SOHC and it only required an IAC during the whole time I had it.

You do know that the only difference between the 5.4L and the 4.6L is the deck height and the stroke right? Heads are the same as the 4.6L.

somewhat...depending if Windsor or Romeo built...but compression is different of course

If there is any way that you could verify the oil that has been used would be a plus. The 5.4 has great longevity with the recommended 5w20. There is somewhat of an issue with coil packs on some of the 5.4's.

Good engine except for the spark plug thing. Gas hogs, but good engines.

Most 01's and up 2V got the 8 thread heads instead of the 4 thread heads that had a problem with spitting plugs. Personally I think the problem is not letting heads cool before a plug change or people overtightening and stripping

190K on my 2003 F250. Probably half those miles towing 5-8,000 lbs. Only plugs, filters and belt replaced. Runs as good as new.
