#2. If you are concerned about taking the responsibility of holding/ looking at someone's phone then that alarms me considering the inherent responsibilities of your job.
What if that person goes and files an IA complaint against me for unlawfully "searching" his phone, or conplains that it hasn't worked the same? No thanks. These days it's all about CYA. Guys, it's just easier to print out the ID card. I don't see what the fuss is.

Just have it on you and don't forget to put the new card, when you renew, in your glove compartment like I did. I got a fucking surcharge fee and a letter saying txdps was going to suspend my license for failing to provide proof of insurance even though it should've shown in their system that I had insurance. All I had was the expired copy and forgot to put the new one in my truck.

all of this because somebody is too fucking lazy to print out their insurance card or call their agent to get a physical one mailed to them...FAIL.

also seeing how technology has evolved in other areas of life like smartphones, military drones,etc...I am slightly dissappointed that there is not a system in place that an officer can check to see if a driver is currently covered under an insurance policy. seems like it would be rather simple, but i am sure Obama is to blame for it somehow or another. but until then I will still carry my physical insurance card so if and when carrollton pd decides to pull me over I can make the traffic stop go as quickly and smooth as possible.

also on a side note...does anybody here know any of the carrollton pd officers? I saw a female officer the other day and from what I saw she was pretty hot. I was hoping she would pull into a 7/11 or something but she lost me.

^ I know most of the Carrollton PD. When and where did you see that officer?

it was about a week ago during the day around 2pm if I remember right...at the intersection of josey/hebron. she turned south on josey, I guess she could have been going back to the station.

We have a system that shows whether or not a vehicle has coverage. Problem is that it's not 100% accurate, and usually only lists excluded drivers. We still have to manually verify coverage.

Not a cop but I once was rejected by 3 police departments.....

I'd say if you are a dick, you'll get a ticket. Nice/respectful/honestly forgot the paper copy, doubt there would be an issue using the phone

brunette I believe...if she was a redhead it would have been a really dark red that looked brunette going down the road.

I was hoping somebody could get the system up and running 100% just to make it easier all the way around. because like someone posted earlier about being given a fake card...seems like it would not be difficult to have a central database that all insurance agencies could report to and that L.E. could access to verify info.

I randomly call the number on the card to verify the policy. I've name a few "tampering" arrests that way. (if the card was forged and fraudulent)

You would be surprised how many people buy a 6 month or 12 month policy, make the first payment, and then get the card and never make another payment.

This is so common it isn't funny. Then someone gets in a wreck, exchanges info, only to find out the other guy really doesn't have insurance. Then they call us wanting the police to go after the other guy....
