For years we (drivers who have been pulled over) have handed you our physical insurance card. Since it is now almost 2012, would you object to me handing you my smartphone with an open PDF of my insurance card as proof? I really dont want to go to kinkos just to print this. (but I will if you say so)

Carry the card. You just never know and it will probably vary from officer to officer. Common sense tells me that if the vehicle return confirms your insurance, and you show me on your phone, you should be fine. However..............Whos your Daddy?
