I gotta ask...Why the fuck is the woman hauling around a cupcake? She flew from Boston to Vegas with it and now was flying back to Boston with it? Why has she not eaten the fucking thing? Sounds like a dumb bitch to me..

I can see why it might be an issue...But they should have just tore the cupcake apart, checked it's contents then handed it back in a baggy....

          Is that normal TSA protocol?

I feel safer with them patting down my children, making people throw away water bottles, cupcakes, and confiscating sewing kits.
In this case..it is better they work in the side of over cautious. Anyone who flies enough knows the tsa isn't THAT bad and that these bitch stories come from people who don't know how to travel. It's an airplane not a 15 passenger road trip van. Hell I've been bomb screened and patted down a few times and they always try to make it as quick as possible without any personal encroachment. I just don't pack dumb shit in my carry on.

As usual, you don't get it. It's about consistency. She flew with it once without a problem. Then all of a sudden it was a problem. Sort of like how I've flow a dozen times with fingernail clippers and shaving cream, and had them both confiscated on seperate occasions. Why I'm even bothering, I have no idea, you always have a hard time with simple concepts and I'm sure going from your responses so far that this will be no exception.

Dude, why? What are they protecting us from? Do you not understand how insane and out of balance that shit has become?

I didn't care that much about the TSA until I had one 150lb pimple faced cock sucker yell at me for forgetting my laptop bag. I went over to get it and he got into some tactical stance telling me to back off/that he would bring it to me. I just laughed at him, but did thank him profusely. Not sure if he thought I was srs because the thanking was fit for a war hero.

... and you're finding one ridiculous thing to bitch about- how a woman travels with a cupcake.

I fly enough to know how to travel. My children have been frequent flyers since they were infants. I've had my share of easy TSA screenings and I've had the run ins with the random dickhead agent. I once had a TSA agent make me pour out several bottles of expressed breastmilk, because he didn't believe that 6 eight ounce bottles was a 'reasonable quantity' for a cross country trip with two long layovers.
This would be the same guy who decided that I needed to undress my infant daughter so he could search her diaper and swap it for bomb residue. I liken TSA agents to mall security guards. For the most part, they're low skilled jackasses that have been given a ceremonial badge and a little bit of power, and it tends to go to their head at random.

                          Exactly.

A cupcake is suspect because the icing can be considered a gel, but it's perfectly fine to travel with a travel bottles of aerosol and a lighter. See the irony?

Four or so years ago I was flying back to Dallas from Amarillo. I had been up on a visit with one of my field reps who had just gotten back from an Alaskan fishing trip. I had just purchased a small soft sided cooler, filled it with fresh vacuum sealed fish and ice. TSA made me throw out my ice, then once I made it through the gate directed me to an interior restaurant where I had to purchase more ice.

Stupidity was in full effect that day...

Try working for a airline. You have to go thru the same shit everyday even tho you've had your background thoroughly screened and you work on the planes and have unrestricted access everyday. Or the pilots who can't carry a nail clipper but...THEY'RE ALREADY IN THE DAMN COCKPIT! TSA is a total joke 9/11 will never happen in the same way again. For one thing the passengers won't allow it to happen. Had a buddy who is a mechanic try bringing in a new screwdriver and the dumass TSA agent said he was going to have to take it. My buddy said "You realise I have a toolbox full of these in my locker don't you?" Still no go. So he turned around and when to the hanger and came in. Passed the guy later carrying a whole toolbox and waved and pointed at the screwdriver.

                                Highly debatable.
