    Anyone owned one?
    Opinions?
    6.0 or 7.3?
    I like the lower mileage 05s but heard the 03 7.3 was a great diesel.
    Just looking for opinions on the vehicle

    Parent have one, 2000 7.3L 4x4...they are overrated. The engine is awesome but I just don't like the look reminds of a short bus. My dad has a '99 F-350 with 7.3 at 550K miles on it, the only issue he had was a couple of wheel hubs and the water pump.

      prepare for at least an egr cooler delete on the 6.0, possibly head studs depending on how you push it

                      I've owned a 6.0 and several 7.3's. I'd take the driveability (and issues) of a 6.0 any day over a 7.3. The 7.3 is stone reliable but a turd. The 6.0 benefits from more power, better tranny and in the 05's, better front end components.

                      I lifted my heads before 50k on the 6.0 while towing with a program. Put the head studs in and ran the dog shit out of it until 120k, replaced the egr, egr cooler and degas bottle and was trouble free until 190k until the tranny shit out. Got rid of it after that, but damned if I don't miss that truck more than anything I've ever owned.

                        The door lock actuators wear out. There are 3 pairs of 5x7's in them. It takes A LOT of sound deadener to cover the interior. You can do single or double DIN. It probably does not have PATS so I would get at least a basic anti-theft system. People break into them by prying under the door handle just like on F250/350s. It would make a cool urban assault vehicle.
