So I picked up a train set for the Christmas tree. Since this is my son's first one I wanted to start a little tradition. Damn these things are exspensive! I ended up with an O gauge K-line. Anyone else into these?

Small time
My dad was a huge o gauge Lionel freak. His layout was about 2500 sq ft spread over 3 levels. Estmate was over 5 miles worth of train track was squeezed in there. Was insane. He had about 400k into the whole thing but when Lionel rereleased entire lines in the min 90's, the whole collector market took a nosedive. Things went from collectable to worthless overnight.
After my dad passed we sold off his collection, but i kept 6 of his (and mine) favorite locomotive and tenders. Been wanting to display them again, might make that my holiday project.

If you want to see a huge model train show, go to the Dallas Area Train Show next month, January 21-22, 2012.
This is at the Plano Center (just east of Central on Springcreek). I went with my older son and his two boys a few years ago. It is well worth going. The layouts are big and all gauges of trains are there. Worth the trip when it comes to town if you are interested in model trains. My father had a complete Lionel Super Chief train set years ago when model trains were at their popularity peak. We use to play with it for hours on end. We still have the set with all the Pullman cars, etc., but it needs restoration.Mustangs previously owned:
1967 Coupe V8 (My first car)
1992 LX AOD
1993 LX Drag Car
1995 GTS

Yep, I have an LGB Christmas train setup. I buy an additional car for the set every year. All of the LGB train cars used to be made in Germany, the one that I got this year was stamped "made in China". Might as well buy the cheap, non branded one next year.
