May be a stupid question but how do they validate miles driven in a year? Do they get annual checks on the odometer? Or do you just slide by until you get a wreck and better ensure your mileage isnt over?
I guess when you get in a wreck you just hope your not over the mileage. They don't even verify it when you get the insurance, I just had to take pictures of all sides of the car and tell them the mileage. I also had to show proof of a second vehicle as my DD.
i sold my 99 vortech frc to pick up a maggied cts v. Thought i would like it as being much more pratical but was just not the same. Ended up selliing it and picking up another frc and going twin turbo. Like it much better but getting the itch to move onto something new.
Before I purchased my 03 cobra I checked insurance on a 03 Z06. The vette was $40 a month cheaper, $80 vs $120. 27 yo at the time.
I have a friend who purchased a pretty clean 100k mile 99 model for $11k. They are out there, but most are closer to $15k, and honestly I'd spend $10k more and get a C6. I think my next car will be a auto C6.

If you find a C6 for $25,000 please let me know. I haven't seen any under $30,000.
OP, I agree, no C5s for less than $15,000 and no C5Z below $20,000 - although there are quite a few clean low mileage ones for low $20,000s.
there are plenty of c6's for $25k, you aren't looking hard enough... get on corvetteforums. I am just talking c6 of course and not c6z. You can snag a good C5z for less than 20 if you can wait and look hard, but they are holding steady. I would talk to stangin4life on here about vette's, the guy sold the nicest c5 i've ever seen.

I paid $26,400 for my 2006 in December of 2008. It had 29k miles, perfect condition, LT3, Z51 with Nav. The only options it didn't have was magnetic ride and dual roofs. I found it on cars.com, granted I had to fly to Wisconsin and drive it the 1200 miles back home lol, and no it wasn't a Wisconsin car the dealer got it at auction and it came from California.
Hell I would sell it to for $25,000 if I still had it.

Thank you.
I actually might be in the market for another, as I'm getting the itch again.
I just have to figure out what I like and find the right car at the right price.
I have seen many vettes and know the SELLING prices pretty well.
Last car I almost dropped the hammer on was a 70yr old man that had a red 2008 c6 with full z06 bodykit, heads, cam, full exhaust, 18,000 miles, etc...
It was 30k cash and was a few months ago.
As for the insurance rates, I was paying around $120 a month for full coverage as a pleasure vehicle.
Thank you.

Good to hear, its great to know there will be another one built right, and not w/ hand me down parts or cutting corners.
Deals are out there, just have to have the cash, and be patient. That deal on a widebody is really good... that's a lot of bodywork which aint cheap.
Guys just have their heads in the clouds for asking prices, you gotta find someone who's been sitting on it for awhile, and I assume if you're buying a 10y/o car, you have the CASH to buy it... at least you should IMO
Thank you.
