  • Are C5 prices ever going to come down?

Seems like they've been stuck at ~15k (20+k for z06), forever. I figured I'll snatch one up when I can get my hands on a decently nice one for ~10k, but @15k for a 98-00 they just seem over valued, especially since we picked up a '04 CTS-V w/70k miles for 15k and it's incredibly clean (and had a higher sticker price then the C5).

Anyone seen any insane deals on C5's lately?

A couple years ago I was looking at C5Zs and you're right... in comparison to now, the prices have stayed the same.

How are you liking the CTS-V? I'm considering one for my next ride...

It's actually for my mother. She loves it, I don't understand how someone kept it so clean. Paint/interior/etc. is like new. It is funny to watch her drive it, she has a weird habit of only getting on it in 2nd, but she does it like every time she shifts to 2nd, then she giggles.

I've driven it a bit and it feels very strong, handling is great, and the brakes are insane.

that's funny you say that cause i have an aunt that had a brand new camaro ss back in 2002 and, like your mother, would only really get on it in 2nd gear. every other gear she drove it normal/slow but for some reason 2nd gear got the lead foot lol

funny story, she wouldn't let anyone drive it cause she knew they would dog on it as soon as they got the chance. at that age i was really into cars and knew more about that car than she ever would, well she surprised me one visit when she let me take her car to the store to get something and even let my cousins(her kids) ride with as long as i promised to drive right. well i did and even though they were telling me to haul ass i kept it under the speed limit the entire time. when i got back she asked me if i go on it and i said nope, kept it under the speed limit the entire time. she then said she knew i would cause i was a good kid... then she said i could take it to a undeveloped part of the neighborhood and have a little fun with it.. but to not get too crazy. she is still one of my favorite aunts

yea yea i know, cool story br0

How much would insurance be for a c5/c6 for a 25yr old?

I was afraid that was the answer. I would love one but I can't see myself paying more a month for a car than my house..

                      Details?

I had a 2v Mustang when I was in my young 20's and my insurance was 300 or so a month...

My insurance dropped, ceteris paribus, going from a Mustang GT to a z06 at age 29.

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

                          Like Slow said.

I also had a 2v Stang (2000) before the Vette. I was surprised at the drop in rates, but I assume the average driver is a 40-ish white guy while the avg driver for a mustang is a 91Coupemike.

Mine was $115 a month on my C6, got it when I was 24.(with state farm) Since it wasn't a daily driver I did eventually switch to a fixed value policy and it dropped to $30, but I could only drive it 7,500 miles a year. I don't have any tickets or accidents on my record.

May be a stupid question but how do they validate miles driven in a year? Do they get annual checks on the odometer? Or do you just slide by until you get a wreck and better ensure your mileage isnt over?
