Anybody else not use enough PTO thoughout the year?

Anyone else here not use enough pto during the year and taking off a few weeks in a row here? I always get caught in this position and don't know what to do for the several days off.

What keeps you occupied during time off?

I never use all my vacation, and this year I get an additional two weeks. Burning 2 days to get the full week next week.


As for what keeps me occupied, kids, projects around the house, etc.

Housework sounds good...after being in this place for a bit now there are finally things to keep up with.

I'm trying to keep from spending a fortune on dumb shit out of boredom.

Work on the GTO and Galaxie this year
Drive around aimlessly
Eat too much and spend enough money that I could have gone to Mexico

Our vacation vanishes into the abyss if we don't use it every year. I get 3 weeks and a few personal days. Never lost an hour or had to use it all at the end of my entitlement year.

I have to use it or lose it, and can only carry over a week.

I wish I had PTO. But then again, I've been sitting around the house for 9 days now while my truck's been in the shop, and i get paid for it. so i guess it all evens out, considering I got 2 weeks of vacation, and about 2 months all together this year of breakdown. I'd rather be working, this sitting around doing nothing sucks!

That last part is my problem...I got a bonus and spent nearly all of it shopping for Christmas gifts this year already. Had I been workin I wouldnt gone shopping so much

I can roll 120 hours of PTO into next year, but so that I don't lose any I am taking off from 12/20 - 01/02. Next year I'm going to be in a world of hurt trying to figure out how to take off 4+ weeks

Lol. Why do you guys have such a hard time taking a vacation, or just a 3 or 4 day weekend here or there? Do your bosses give you a hard time or something? If so I'd tell them to get bent. You get PTO for a reason, and I'd bet dollars to pesos none of them have ever lost a day of vacation either.

I wish they would just cut us a check. Here in CA you don't lose your PTO at the end of the year per law, it just continues to accrue.
