With my coupe getting closer to being back on the road I really have to tackle this insurance thing. As some know, it's a '79 coupe (factory v8 car) that has been converted interior and exterior to the 93 stuff. Custom paint, all new glass, body panels, lights, carpet, headliner, dash, door panels, everything is pretty much new. Car has a fuel injected GM LQ9 (6.0L) w/a T6 S475 Borg Warner turbo. Built trans/converter by Mikes trickshift, built rear, frnt/rear Aerospace brakes, tubular everything front and rear, big fuel system (aeromotive elminator), pro-stars. Car is tagged/inspected, has A/C and heat, radio, locking doors, etc. Car has a custom 10point cage painted with the exterior, racing Corbeau seats, 5point harnesses, manual flaming river steering, manual aerospace brakes, and a spool (and runs around on ET street's).
So, with that said, it is probably not the best candidate for an insurance policy. I drove the car about 1800 miles last year and I assume I'll drive about that each year. I have Kim looking for a policy for it, but wanted to know what everyone else is doing on their heavily modified street cars (especially older cars, this car is almost 33 years old). I feel like I need an agreed value policy in order to avoid getting screwed if someone pulls out in front of me or steals it one day and it's a total loss. Too much money tied up in it to risk it with all the morons on the road.
