  • Pets and Christmas

I was talking to my sister earlier and somehow in the conversation my dog was brought up and if I planned on getting him anything for Christmas. When I told my sister that I had already spent about $200 on him and will probably spend another $50 before it's over with she about flipped out telling me I was fucking nuts. She said she doesn't even spend that much on each of her kids. I just laughed it off and said my dog behaves better than her kids that's why he gets more. Plus my dog loves Christmas and opening his own gifts. We hold the presents and he rips the wrapping paper off, then spits it out and bites off more. So who else spoils their pets on christmas.

He's getting a therapeutic bed, plenty of specialty treats and rawhides, some new toys and probably a spa card from rubber doggies to give him some baths.

I do, but not to that extent.... New collar, leash, some toys and a huge rawhide bone.

Maybe a couple raw hides or some bones that's about it.

Most of this years budget was spent on the therapeutic bed. Those things ain't cheap and since he's a large dog we are trying to protect his joints early on.

Oh year forgot to add. Little bastard even has his own stocking and I already got the 3rd degree from the wife about how we have to buy more gifts for that.

We typically get our pups some treats, and a couple cans of stew (made for dogs) and every once and a while will throw some over their dry food and mix it in. We are also playing with the idea of getting a large bed since they sleep in separate crates at night and like to sleep on each other during the day... we don't let the on the couches and our whole house has hard wood floors.

Just a few toys and treats for our dogs. I gave them the freedom to get into the back yard on their own last year when I built their dog door.

This year will likely be a few squeaky toys. Next year we should be spoiling our kid..

My pets are family, so they have their own stockings. Heck, even my snake has his own stocking. We get the dogs new beds every year, along with treats, and they each get a screaming gorilla toy, which they murder within minutes on Christmas morning. This has been the routine every year, and they totally sense what's going on and they get super excited on Christmas morning. It's a hoot! The snake will typically get a spare heat bulb and some fresh newspaper. He doesn't know what's going on. We do that more for the principal of it. Heck, even the bird feeders will get filled on Christmas Eve, and I'll put out some peanuts or bread along the fence so the birds and squirrels will have a great morning. Animals rock. That's how I roll.

Our critters have it made. They get all kinds of shit for Christmas. The dog likes the squeaky toys and they last about as long as a cat at Jared's house. We got him one last year that still actually squeeks. We're looking for others by the same company.
