    Battery just blew up in my dads face!

    Just talked to my dad. Seems his buddy was trying to charge two 6 volt golf cart batteries in series on a 12v charger and had them wired wrong. My dad noticed it and went to change the leads around and it sparked and ignited the gas from the batteries cooking and blew up in his face. He was ok though, just singed his facial hair and he scratched one of his eyeballs trying to get the contact out of it. The eye dr got a bunch of trash out of his eyes as well.

    Could have been alot worse though!

    Damn right! Acid and eyeballs don't mix. He's damn lucky.

      He is lucky as hell. Could have been very serious. Not at my store, but we've had one blow the top all the way into the ceiling tiles.

        Yeah glad he's ok! Yeah I had a firework accident a few years ago involving my eye. Took them 30 minutes to clean out my eye and shit.

            Yeah he said he didnt even think he had any trash in there. One of his contacts didnt want to come out and he finally got it but it was still stinging a bit so he went to the eye dr and he noticed some trash in there. I think his contacts helped shield his eyes from the acid, he said they were trashed. They are the old school hard long term use kind so they arent cheap to replace.

              Your dad's buddy deserves to have his ass kicked in! 6 volt chargers are cheap.

                      Any acid that made its way between the contact and the eye would have caused more damage due to being essentially held in place. It's a good thing he removed them as soon as possible. Hopefully he won't suffer any long term damage.

                        Naaaa he is fine now. They dialated his eyes to make sure but he should be fine. He was laughing saying they never did find the top to the battery lol.

                          Glad to hear your dad is OK.

                          The last thing I do when charging a battery is plug the charger in, and the first thing I do is unplug it before touching the charging clips.
