  • Philips LED Christmas lights question

I have a strand that I bought last season that only works on the back half. The first half of the strand is out. Is the whole thing scrap now? I've swapped out the first dark, and the last dark bulbs but the half is still dark. Any ideas?

The half end of the strand on the Male side is out, and the half on the female side lights up.

      You're doing it wrong.

^ Fortunately I'm not using an aluminum ladder.

Those new style LED lights sure do look cool. I've been wondering how well they will hold up to normal usage. Keep us posted on how you get them fixed.

LED lights should last up to 100,000 hours. I don't know whether or not the Christmas lights will do the same.

That strand is probably done. I bought all new lights this years and they were GE LED's. Every set of GE's I saw boasted the fact that they were constant on. Whether one, three, or seven bulbs went out, all the rest would stay lit. We'll see.

I swapped out the fuses hoping it would work, but nope. Turns out the "dark" half is actually ON, but VERY dim. Not sure wth. I'm just gonna scrap this strand and pick up another replacement. I've swapped EVERY bulb on the dim strand and nothing.

find the middle bulb that's out and play with the wire pushing it into the bulb housing. I had a new string of LED's that were out then dim and did this and they have worked fine for the last 2 weeks. just a slightly loose wire.

I was going to swap out all my icycle lights on my house for LED versions this year because I think they look alot cooler but every review on home depot seemed to have complaints about strands being out the 2nd year they use them.

I shall give this a try.
