Let me help you out a bit here just one last time.
I'm the the State and National Registry Paramedic that went back and forth with Dave about things I experienced and patients treated in both clinical and, of course, pre-hospital field environs. The part of your statement about him trying to accuse me of being a Googler, however, is accurate. However, the part that some of you don't realize is some of the harrassment was in jest on both sides. Yet, by all means, please carry on. If it pleases you to do so.
I haven't seen someone try so hard on this site for a long time, however, in as much as you try however, however please just take a deep breath, sit back, relax, and enjoy the forum. It's really pretty fun when you let your guard down a bit.

However.
Cut him some slack. He hasn't made it to the letter 'H' in the Thesaurus yet. It's a big book, you know. With lots of words and stuff. And there's no pictures to help him out.

Jesus Fuck. I swear there are 2 people using this screen name. Either that, or it is the fuck-all of bi-polar disorders. GOOGLE THAT.
How was it "in jest" if people, including davbrucas, still make comments about it? Perhaps it was only "in jest" on your part.
Because people like to push other people's buttons. That, and it's easy to misinterpret intent when interacting with people you don't really know on the internet. Perhaps, a poorly delivered joke is interpreted as an insult or vice versa in some cases.
So a paramedic is an EMT, but an EMT is not necessarily a paramedic. Got it.
First Responsder or (ECA)
EMT - Basic

NREMT-P (Which allows you to move to another state and go straight to work without having to recertify/test for that particular state. A form of reciprocity.)
Paramedics operate under the Standards of Practice established by the Medical Director for your EMS provider licensing service, e.g., Medstar, Rural Metro, etc..
Paramedic (EMT-P) - This is a high level of prehospital medical training and usually involves key skills not performed by technicians, including cannulation (and with it the ability to use a range of drugs such as morphine), cardiac monitoring, intubation and other skills such as performing a cricothyrotomy. In many countries, this is a protected title, and use of it without the relevant qualification may result in criminal prosecution. In the United States, paramedics represent the highest licensure level of prehospital emergency care in most states. In addition, several certifications exist for Paramedics such as Wilderness ALS Care, and Critical Care EMT-Paramedic. + Swift water rescue
ALS (Advance Life Support) provider may perform advanced procedures and skills on a patient involving invasive and non-invasive procedures including:
* Cardiac Monitoring EKG
* Cardiac Defibrillation
* Transcutaneous pacing
* Intravenous cannulation (IV)
* Iinterosseous (IO) access and Intraosseous infusion
* Surgical Cricothyrotomy
* Needle Cricothyrotoy
* needle decompression of Tension Pneummothorax
* Advanced medication administration through parental and enteral routes (IV, IO, PO, PR, ET, SL, topical, and transdermal)
* Following protocols as set forth by AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
* Following protocols as set forth by AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
* Following protocols as set forth by Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
*Telemetry
+ All of the pre-requisite EMT criteria. BTLS, BCLS, Spinal immobilization, etc..
Ambulance Driver Certification - Modular Type III/Van. Ambulance drivers may be trained in radio communications, ambulance operations and emergency response driving skills.
pshew..thank the maker for copy&paste.
the only thing on that list above that i never actually performed, but was trained to do is a cricothyrotomy on a human patient. and i consider myself fortunate for never having an airway emergency of that nature. i've delivered two babies, SIDS, eclampsia patients, a traumatic decapitation, degloving injuries, stabbings, crush injuries, diabetic coma, near drowning, hypothermia, near lethal water intoxication case of a runner competing in downtown marathon, fractured eye orbits, concussions, strokes/TIA, broken bones/compound fractures, medically arrest seizures, medical treatment of acute COPD episode, asthma attacks, rape victims, full thickness burn victims, infant croup, partial reversal and stabilization of a severe xanax OD of a 12 y/o kid with my trusty vial of romazicon before delivering to definitive care, violent meth addicts, etc... you name it....we did it. medics do more than put band aids on people and drive around ornately decorated 10,500 lb. taxi cabs. and the pay is deplorable for people working in privatized ambulance service.
not nearly as grueling as what it takes to become an m.d. by any means, but still a fair amount of education and training.
blah blah blah blah blah, bunch of other crap I really don't care about (I can Google too)
Paramedic (EMT-P)
blah blah blah blah blah, 3 more pages of crap I don't want to read
Thanks, EMT Google!
BTW, I'm not trying to undermine your education/training/experience, I'm just saying quit being a bitch and recognize the fact that while you're a paramedic, you're still an EMT.

You lost me here.
1. You can't have exact duplicate screen names on vBulletin.
2. Any admin can check my IP addresses. I've never created an alias. I just had Kyle change my old screen name once a while back. Not sure why you quoted me on that.

I meant two people posting on the same account. Was it really not that obvious?
