Car fax?

Trying to help out a lady we're helping. Looks good other than being old, and hail damage. They want $2K for it. Has over 142K miles, but the odometer read 649K (digital OD). He claimed when he got the car jumped a couple of months ago, it shorted something. I confirmed the odometer doesn't move after driving it.
