  • MS Word Ninja?

Is there anybody on this planet that's so adept at this bullshit program that they can actually use it for layout? I'm getting an increasing amount of requests to lay out white papers in MS Word, and all my designers and myself shudder at the thought of trying to make anything work in this piss-poor program. If I can find someone who knows it front-to-back and can actually make something look decent I'd be willing to contract them to do so.

    Anybody?

What exactly are you wanting done?

I need content to be flowed into a paper. I can provide a PDF of the document template and supporting image files, I just need it laid out in Word. It'll involve more savvy as far as how the content is displayed than what we can provide in house. Full bleed photography, design elements placed, etc. I can't imagine it would be that much trouble for someone who really knows the program, but for someone who's used to the Adobe Creative Suite, it's like torture.

I think you'll find way too many things that don't work. We have whole teams that come and go attempting to do that sort of thing, pdf does not translate into bill-gates. The best solution I've seen is to use a 3rd party parser to break the pdf into xml, then design a word template that receives the xml. Which doesn't buy you anything in the end.

          What?

I don't need the PDF changed to Word format, I need someone to look at the PDF for reference and build a Word doc from scratch that looks reasonably close to it.

Depending on exactly what you're trying to do, it can be done. I've done a lot of forms for folks here at the office that needed a standard layout and then a user can just open it to complete. I found it easiest to start with one of the Word templates and then copy/paste their fields where they need to be and rename them. Formatting placeholders and pictures is a bitch though.

                Hahah, fuck.

That's how in-over-my-head I am with this POS program. Draw box, place picture, move with cursor, how hard is that, Microsoft?
