They should just go under and call it a day.
There's a lot to why flights get delayed, majority of the time its out of the crews hands and due to something else. You think the crew wants to sit an extra 5 hrs? ALso the large number of full flights you've been on make up for the losers where its not even 1/2 full. Thats the thing with 119/121
AA has never filed for bankruptcy. Northwest, delta, united, continental and us air did go through bankruptcy. Most of there employees were let go and now the maintenance is being done by third world countries. How many corners do you think they're cutting?

Yeah like the other have said, time to find a new career dude. I have several freinds that are auto mechanics and even the dickbump oil changers make around 60k a year, a seasoned mechanic can make upwards of 80k-100k a year. And no jail time if a tire falls off.

I have to agree with all this in regards to SW. Great, low frills airline with decent customer service.

The only thing that sucks is not being able to fly non-stop to most places, but the 1-stops are painless. They get the heard in and out, any stops are mostly 30 mins. tops. Their customer service is top notch and flying in and out of Love makes it so much easier than going to DFW.

Do I like it, no. Do I think its fair, no. Do I think it happens just about everywhere? yes.

My point is, if you don't like it, leave. Or, go somewhere else that dosen't have that issue. When you find it, let me know.

That kind of thing has been going on in the airline industry for years. You and I will not live to see it change. You could always get your degree and go into managment if you want the big bucks.

guess thats why my uncle is about to retire from AA....my dad already retired from Delta when they backed out of dfw....reducing work force since DFw is AA's headqtrs. guess we see what happens.

AA just made one of the biggest aircraft purchases in history. Scrapping all the old MD80s and getting Boeing/Airbus replacements.

They won't even experience a "hiccup". They'll just wipe the slate clean and keep on rollin', union and all. They piss on all the REAL businesses that they owe money too, and just keep on going. There are a TON of venders that would LOVE to sell to them, especially in a bankruptcy, because by law, they will get paid.

Do you constantly perform work that the quality of craftsmanship is held to an extreme standard to keep 1000's of people safe per day? Did you know if I don't perform maintenance to the T of the maintenance manual ONE time I could possibly have my license pulled and never be able to touch a plane again? Did you know if I ever fuck up and a passenger is hurt or killed I can serve life in prison? Guess what? Also I only made 40k last year, before taxes with about 150 hours of ot.

Not to get into details, but my business just lost 15k owed to us by AA this morning when they decided to file. Sucks total ass, but what can ya do?

And yes the guys at the top have been lining their pockets with millions over the last few years while the company was "losing so much money"

Absolutely not. I am no longer in the airline industry. I was laid off from Delta in 2002. I had no desire to seek out another airline job due to what goes on with managment, and all the pissing and moaning from the guys I worked with. I now maintain and fly a privately owned helicopter, and on the side I maintain about a dozen other helicopters.

I'm still in the trenches, just different trenches. I took my own advice years ago, and found a niche in the industry I really enjoy.

P.S.- The guys that were laid off with me, and soon afterward, now realize how good the airline job actually was, and they really had nothing to gripe about.

Fox News is bashing the hell out of their union right now... lol I didn't quite hear what they said but I heard something like 35% of their expenses are labor costs.
