    Just my .02
I had the same issue with my 99 dodge that had 230,000 miles on it. The solenoid went bad. I fixed it myseld for less than $100 including all new trans fluid and filter.

I often wonder how many transmissions are completely rebuilt for that one little part.

Most of them done by a transmission shop, some might just pull it, paint it, put a warranty on it, and replace the solenoid.

I've seen some great things out of dodge. My mom had a 04 4wd hemi crew and the only problem up to 130k miles were ball joints and a exhaust manifold gasket. I contribute the ball joints to the 34" tires on the factory 20" wheels.

I have a uncle with a 96 that has around 300k miles on it. It has the original motor, but it has had head gaskets. One transmission.

a handful of off road beatings is nothing compared to the abuse from pulling loads all day every day. In towing situations, the 6.0 sucks. But this is all neither here nor there, because we aren.t discussing the 3/4 ton and up.

I'll probably never know since I don't tow much. When I have, it's been solid.

Wondering as in construction, when you pull onto ANY job site, you will see almost nothing but Ford. There will be a few chevies and the occasional dodge, but 90 odd percent of the vehicles you encounter will be Ford.

how many miles on it?, it seems most have problems with the head studs stretching around 130k or so, do a search (i didnt before i bought it) and you'll get the problems, once studs are installed in place of the bolts its fine, just something that should have never been a problem from the factory

I'm telling you, this thing is light years ahead of the 05. Comfortable, quiet, and more power than I need for what I'd use it for. I'd buy slightly used 2011 or 12 (or a hail damage sale like he did in the spring) and run it til the wheels fall off.

I like the Dodge trucks. But like said above resale is the only issue. I would go with the new Ford line up on trucks. They have zero percent for 60 months right now. The back seat in the ford is pretty damn big too

It's at 111k right now. I eventually plan on doing head studs anyway so I can run a little bit more aggressive tune if I want. Already has the EGR delete. I love everything about the truck except for the terrible fuel mileage. I average about 12.5 mpg, and I don't drive it very hard.

My 07 has a 6.0, studs, delete, cooler, and an SCT tuner w/egr and that's all I get with a 'perf/econ' tune. This with 105k.

I'm disappointed to say the least...

Brakes, tune ups. The last I knew of on the later madel F series trucks you had to throw the rotors away and buy new ones with the hub and all. I couldn't pay any mechanic 10 hours labor to swap plugs and Dodge well. They burn oil. It's pretty normal fOr them to
Need plugs about every 20 thousand miles.

My Chevy, plugs are easy, brakes are normal. Parts are cheap
And the timing chain isnt 6ft long. It doesn't burn oil, it's not the fanciest interior. It'll run fine for 300,000 plus miles.

That is a common way to rip people off in the repair sector. I was a service manager for about a year with a 'major' garage, which is where I learned that. All a scrupulous shop has to do is get the correct size tooling to hold those rotors on a brake lathe.

I was really glad to have that position when the front bearings on my 3500 both went out at 115k. That was a $3500 job going through the shop...

before and after still gets 15-15.5, hand calculated mpg
