Just out of curiosity, I did an online build for the F-150 vs the Ram 1500 - fairly decked out as if I were buying both.
47,000 for the F-150
31,000 for the RAM 1500
Granted, the F-150 did not compensate for any special offers/deals but even without those included the RAM was 37,000
I'm an F-150 fan, but it's always out of my price range. The biggest reason I would not buy one in the future is what I feel is an inflated price on them.
I also understand the online quotes are high as well. Still, it does demonstrate the cost difference. With that said, I'd still not buy the RAMs at this point.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.

Curious, but what type of business do you own? What type of work?
Wondering as in construction, when you pull onto ANY job site, you will see almost nothing but Ford. There will be a few chevies and the occasional dodge, but 90 odd percent of the vehicles you encounter will be Ford.

I see a whole lot of ppl bashing them based on perceptions, perhaps ill conceived.
And roughly 4-5 who have owned one and said they'd own another. Interesting, indeed. All the people bashing have never owned one. But not a person yet that has owned one, that said they wouldn't buy another. I think that speaks for itself, but keep it coming.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.

I owned an 03 1 ton, and will never own another. Excellent engine, rest of the truck was crap. And while yes, it was a diesel, the truck was still a dodge.

Though I have two cousins here in town that farm heavily (cattle, crops, extensive hay operations) and they have moved away from dodge of late, over to Ford. They had experienced a LOT of problems with there 08 and 09 model 3500s...

Well being a Dodge owner twice I can give you my impression. My 97 Dodge Truck has almost 300k miles on it and still the original transmission, it did act up on me around 100k miles or so, lost 2 first gears (slipped ALOT), took it to a buddy of mine who checked it out and he said it was the line pressure solenoid, he changed it out and bingo, back in business.
Now my 97 has a chessy plastic interior, but hey, it was the norm in 97. This Truck has been the MOST reliable truck I have owned, it has the 318 and still has the original alternator, water pump etc, the only thing I have had to change out has been batteries, brakes, alignments and 1 fuel pump, thats it !
From what I gather the 5 speed auto's in the Challenger's are Mercedes built transmissions and have been bullet proof so far, dont know if its the same transmission used in the trucks but I was guess that they are.
Cant speak to the 5.7 Hemi, but I have tell you the 6.4 392 Hemi is a fucking beast considering the weight of the Challenger. I am still so far impressed with the quality of the new Dodge.
I know that my 97 must be a fluke for its dependability considering what everyone is saying.
On the same note, my 2008 Tundra has been a solid truck as well, if you want to go jap, and you cant beat the rear seat room you get with the Crew Max, its like a fucking couch back there.

I'd buy a Dodge if it came with a lifetime warranty like my Chevrolet. I wouldn't buy a ford for the simple fact it cost to much for normal repairs and maintenance. Brakes, tune ups. The last I knew of on the later madel F series trucks you had to throw the rotors away and buy new ones with the hub and all. I couldn't pay any mechanic 10 hours labor to swap plugs and Dodge well. They burn oil. It's pretty normal fOr them to
Need plugs about every 20 thousand miles.
My Chevy, plugs are easy, brakes are normal. Parts are cheap
And the timing chain isnt 6ft long. It doesn't burn oil, it's not the fanciest interior. It'll run fine for 300,000 plus miles.Doing enough racing for 99% of the board!

That being said, my in-laws have a 5000 acre wheat farm in Oklahoma. Every farmer around (including them) drive Chevy's. Why? There's a chevy dealer in town that everyone knows and trusts.
It cracks me up when people say, "it's the best vehicle I've ever owned! Zero problems - it has 32000 miles!". Just like politics, by the time you find out if a line of vehicles is good or not it's not until well after the fact. For the record my '06 F150 SCrew has never been in the shop with 76,000 miles.
BCoop - go with your gut. It'll have a warranty, and if you get a good enough deal you can get out if you find it to be problematic.DamonH
