The biggest question for me is are their transmissions reliable which will be answered in a few years and what did they do about their rear ends in the 1/2 tons detonating constantly. Seen several trucks on their 3rd or 4th rear end

Finding a new 2011 on the lot will be better than finding a used 2011 with the current promotions. Just a week or two ago I heard an ad for Holt Dodge giving 15,000 off msrp on all 2011 Ram crew cabs. Not sure if it is still running but its the end of the month and lots want them gone. Might not hurt just to look around.

My 07 has 86k on it and it runs great. No squeaks, no rattles, no problems, etc. Prior to this vehicle I had an 07 F150 that I sold at 78k. In the last 10k miles before i sold it, it seemed something always needed to be replaced. It also developed that lovely 5.4l tick.

I had an '06 Ram quad cab with the 4.7/auto. I loved that truck. I had two issues that I never addressed (traded for the Mustang at 88k miles). The driver's door lock would not always unlock with the remote fob (the key worked) and the blower motor seemed to have a dead spot that a whack under the glove box would take care of. It rode and drove GREAT and I miss it. No transmission problems and no rattles at all. It had plenty of power for getting on the highway and light towing, but probably would lose a drag race to an Ecoboost.

Brent, I would go for it. Used vehicle prices are high as giraffe pussy right now, so you might actually get a better deal with new car rebates and financing.

Who cares, my 99 7.3 beats my buddies ecoboost but i would still rather have a Ram like my associates 2011 Ram Sport. He gets same mpg and far better options.

FWIW I drive a '11 chevy longbed with the 5.3 and it's a gutless turd. You hook a trailer up to it and it gets almost dangerous to try and merge onto the highway...

Whatever I do, I won't be financing. Fuck a car payment. Part of the reason used is more attractive to me. Earliest I will do something is spring, and thats a big if. I think I've got another 100k left in this Expedition. Hard to pull the trigger with that much life left.

It's the want to, not out of necessity.

I still wouldn't dismiss a new vehicle. The rebates on full-size trucks can be ridiculous, and there may even be some tax benefits if you're using it for work.

Speaking of work, don't you drive a lot for your company? Get them to issue you a company vehicle!

Yes, it's for work. No company vehicles. I get a heft allowance, but I prefer to bank it and buy cash. I want the money to work for me, instead of handing it over for a payment,

Couldn't agree more. We haven't had a car payment in about 4 years and I don't want another one. My wife really wants a different car and I've given in a little on that though. If we can have it paid off in 6 months I'm ok with it.

                          And back on topic.\\\\\

I like the looks of the Ram over the F150, but I'd still buy an F150 over a Ram.

I worked as a Dodge tech for a few years. I wouldn't own another Mopar product unless it was given to me. OR it was built before 1975.

Do I own a new mustang, or advocate that I'd buy one? Is this thread even about mustangs? And yes, I've heard about the POS chinese manual.

For what its worth, I will never buy, nor will I ever recommend a dodge anything. Take a look at their reliability ratings (from a credible source such as JD power) and you'll have second thoughts about that "nice" new dodge truck. Chrysler is not close to comparable to ford or GM. They're a distant third.
