When my wife and I were looking at building in Farmersville 8 years ago, water was at about the 450' mark and we were quoted right at $100 per foot.

      With no guarantee of water!

the full bill drilled, cased, pump, reserve tank, wired and plumbed to the house was like $7k according to the lady we bought the place from.

once the reserve tank is depleted, the water comes out so cold. it feels awesome in the summer

I had a nice discussion with my water company for the same thing. They insisted that it was read accurately and I did owe a $200 bill. I asked how the guy was reading it when the meter was on the backside of the new fence, he would have had to come inside the gate, walk around it, clear the grass that had grown up, scoop out the dirt that had covered it over the months (I had to do all of this to second check the numbers, they just added a zero to the prior month's numbers) and then pry open the meter lid (it was sealed shut with dirt) and then wipe off the meter face as it was caked in mud as well.

The lady looked at me and said "Well, do you want to dispute your reading?"

          Really? After all that?

Our next door neighbor uses a well for irrigation and SHTF water. The previous owner of our house was going to go half on the system back in 2008 but decided to back out when they put the house on the market. Half would have cost $2000 according to my neighbor and of course the rights to the well would have come with the house purchase. Now the same well would cost me 6-7 times that much.
