I'm of the opinion that he's right and I'm glad to see Ford stepping up their game a little.

Could possibly be the last of the "muscle car" era's.

They ran a new(er) mustang around Nurburgring? News to me. If they did, post a link/video, I'd like to take a look.

I posted in another thread about the '60's-'70's muscle cars and the "good old days". THESE are the "good old days" for gearheads and car-guys. Unfortunately, I'm old enough to have driven alot of the old cool stuff, and none of them ran like these cars do. Not to mention they handle, A/C, P/S, great brakes, great mileage, etc. Hell, few bikes even ran as good as some of these new muscle cars.

Im a chebby nutgugger.. I will say ford has really stepped it up! I think within the next 10 years we will see a production street car making 1k crank hp under 6 liters.. probably be fuel efficient too

The new 650hp Shelby is awesome, but I think on a long road course lap the ZL1 may still be able to pull out a faster lap based on these recent exchange:

After Ford brought out its potentially ZL1-killing 650-horsepower 2013 Shelby GT500, Joel Ewanick, global vice president of GM marketing, decided to drop the gauntlet down at the feet of Ford. "We should take a Camaro, Ford brings a Mustang, we each pick our drivers, and see who has the best time on the Nürburgring," Ewanick said to Scott Burgess of the Detroit News. Jim Farley, who heads Ford's global marketing, wasn't taking the bait despite professed claims to a desire to "take a bat" to Chevrolet. "I wish we could," he said, after hearing about Ewanick's challenge. "Who wouldn't want to do that?" Huh.

If Ford was confident the 650hp Mustang could outrun the ZL1, I think Farley would have spoken a bit differently.

New Gt500 has been spotted on the ring. I wouldnt be surprised if the mustang would beat the zl1. Ford just keeping quiet instead of flexing their dicks like gym is doing.

LOL @ all this crap. How much does the ZL1 cost? Sure, go compare it to a stock SS, since GM doesn't offer a true competitor for the Shelby. Ya'll cry as much as FoxBodyMike.

It's 54,995. The zL1 Camaro shareS the same suspension as the CtS v. The worlds fastest 4 door sedan. It's an IRS vs solid axle and 50 less hp, the suspension is nice. Can't beat it.
